Master David White
Founder and Technical Director, Sundance Martial Arts
Master White began his Taekwon-Do journey at just 8 years old right here in Vernon. What started as a childhood activity quickly became a lifelong passion and a clear calling to teach, mentor, and develop others through martial arts.
He currently holds the rank of 7th Degree Black Belt and is certified as an International Master Instructor and Examiner with the International Taekwon-Do Federation, one of the highest professional distinctions in ITF Taekwon-Do.
In 2004, Master White founded Sundance Taekwon-Do in Vernon with a vision to build not just strong martial artists, but confident, respectful, and resilient people. Since then, he has positively impacted hundreds of families in the community and has developed athletes at the highest level of international competition.
Under his direct coaching, 9 Sundance athletes have represented Canada as members of Team Canada, and Team Sundance has been represented at every ITF World Championship since 2011.
Master White’s coaching excellence has also been recognized nationally. He was selected as a Canadian National Team Coach for the 2019 World Championships in Germany and again for the 2025 World Championships in Croatia.
He has been recognized twice, both in 2021 and 2026 as Vernon’s Best Coach by voters in the Vernon Matters BOB Awards.
His mission remains simple and powerful: to use Taekwon-Do as a tool to make a positive difference in every student he coaches, on and off the mats.
